Dean delighted to go back

Defender on return to Meadow Lane with Crawley Town

Defender Dean Leacock makes his return to former club Notts County today with nothing on his mind other than securing three points for Reds.

The 30-year-old made 74 appearances for the Meadow Lane outfit in two seasons there (pictured below) before heading to Crawley in the summer.

Dean said: "It's a good club with good people working there and Shaun Derry has done a great job to stabilise things last season and push on. They are unbeaten in eight games so we know it won't be easy."

Reds are anxious to bounce back after last week's disappointing 4-1 home loss to Peterborough, although Dean believes the performance of the team wasn't as bad as the scoreline suggests.

"It was a disappointing result but it was never a 4-1 game in my opinion. We made some mistakes and they were very clinical in punishing us," he said.

"It was the same against Rochdale in September but we bounced back from that to get a good result and that's what we're looking to do again.

"The squad will be a bit stronger with Joe and Gwion back and Josh fit again. With everyone available there is real competition for places and that's the ideal situation for the manager because it keeps everyone on their toes."
