JG: More to come from Mat

Boss delighted to have defender for another month

John Gregory is delighted to have the services of experienced defender Mat Sadler for another month.

'Sads' signed on for a second month on loan from Rotherham on Tuesday and will be with us until November 11 after the Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern area quarter-final against Gillingham.

John said: "With Mitch Rose and Josh Wright going back last week we were able to sort something out and I am grateful to Steve Evans up at Rotherham for allowing us to have Mat for another month.

"You've got to remember when he came down he'd only played one game and no matter how well you keep yourself in shape you do need a few games to get match sharpness.

"You can get through a couple of games on adrenalin alone but then it kicks in a bit and you do need a few games to build up your match fitness.

"So I actually think we will see Mat doing an even better job over the next five games that he is with us. The same probably goes for Marvin Elliott. There is definitely more to come from big Marv."

Reds are now preparing for Saturday's trip to Meadow Lane where we face Notts County.

JG is confident Izale McLeod and Josh Simpson will be available for selection and Joe Walsh and Gwion Edwards are back in the squad after a week with Wales.

"They came back to training yesterday and it's great to have them back with us," said the boss. "As a manager it is frustrating when you lose players to international duty and they don't play but it can't be helped.

"As a squad we've discussed what we need to put right after Peterborough. We gave away some poor goals which has been unlike us this season because we have kept clean sheets in half of our 16 games.

"We need to get that solidity back and still be a threat going forward. At times last Saturday we got the balance right but it needs to happen over 90 minutes and, of course, we need to cut out the silly mistakes.

"It's a busy period with a game to follow against Walsall on Tuesday so we need to be prepared and hopefully we will have virtually a full squad to choose from."
