Reds launch Youth Club Trophy

28 October 2014

Six Mid Sussex League teams battle it out this Saturday

Six under-11 teams from the Mid Sussex Youth & Minor League will take part in the inaugural Crawley Town Youth Club Trophy before Saturday’s game against Crewe.

As part of the League’s ongoing partnership with the club, the teams will take part in a tournament on the ball court at the Checkatrade.com Stadium with the winners receiving their trophy at half-time from the League secretary John Edwards. All six teams will also be watching the match against Crewe in Sky Bet League One.

The lucky teams are: Crawley United Red, Crawley United Blue, Ifield Galaxy, Lindfield FC Juniors, Southdown Rovers and Three Bridges Youth.

Carol Bates, secretary of Crawley United, said: “I think it's great that our local League One club are working with the Mid Sussex Youth & Minor Football League to promote youth football and engage with local football clubs for this fun tournament. It’s great for our club to be involved and we thank all involved for the opportunity.”

Graham Wright, press officer of the Mid Sussex Youth League, said: “We have struck up a great relationship with the Crawley Town Community team and this is just the first of many activities planned for our members across the season.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to Birtug Kazim (Community Manager) for getting this initiative off the ground and for kindly providing free tickets for the participating players on Saturday.”
