Boss confident the goals will come

Emphasis on improving end product in training this week

John Gregory says the squad have put the emphasis on improving their end product in the final third as they prepare to entertain Yeovil Town on Saturday.

With four goals, Reds are the lowest scorers in League One at this stage of the season but the boss is confident that statistic will improve.

The Gaffer said: "Obviously our big problem is scoring goals. At times our approach work is excellent but in the final third too often we have failed to turn it into more efforts at goal or make better use of our set piece opportunities.

"I have no doubt that we have goals in this team, both from our strikers and the players in other areas of the pitch.

"The solution might be bringing in someone else to give us further options or tweaking what we have if adding to the squad is not possible.

"We have worked on a lot of things with regard to our offensive play this week and I am confident we will start seeing the benefits - hopefully starting on Saturday in what is sure to be a difficult game against Yeovil.

"The lads – that’s everyone, not just the strikers – are aware that it’s an area of our play that has to get better. If it does and we can continue to be solid in other areas of the pitch then we will climb the table, I am sure of that."

Both Josh Simpson and Lanre Oyebanjo are expected to be fit for selection but Ryan Dickson (knee) is sidelined for 4-6 weeks.

Why not get down to the Checkatrade.com Stadium on Saturday to get behind JG and the lads? Tickets are now on sale and our new Family Ticket is launched on Saturday.
