Preston midfielder arrives on three-month loan

Reds have today signed midfielder Keith Keane from League One rivals Preston on a three-month loan agreement, effective from Friday.

The experienced former Republic of Ireland under-21 international, who can also play at the back, began his career with Luton Town and in nine years at Kenilworth Road, when he played at every level from Championship to the Conference, Keith made 277 appearances for the Hatters and scored seven goals.

In 2012 he moved to Deepdale and has played 77 games for Preston including 46 appearances last season when he played in both games against Reds.

Manager John Gregory said: “We’re delighted to have Keith on board, I think he is just what we need at the moment.

“He’s a winner, plain and simple, and he’s a leader too. He always wants the ball, he has a great engine and fantastic ability and we’re thrilled he’s agreed to come down for the next three months. He was captain quite a few times for Preston last season which says a lot about him as a leader."

Preston have agreed that Keith can play for Reds in both the JP Trophy and FA Cup.

Look out for a full interview with Keith soon on the official website.
