Reds get ready to face Peterborough in Capital One Cup

Manager Mark Yates has called for a repeat of Saturday's performance at Oxford when Reds take on League 1 Peterborough United tonight in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

The squad head to London Road on the back of an encouraging 1-1 draw in our League 2 opener and Mark is looking for a similar sort of performance in terms of commitment, discipline and organisation.

He said: "We did a lot of good things on Saturday, we got the basics right in terms of our away performance against Oxford.

"We will need to do that again because playing a good League 1 side like Peterborough on their own ground is another step up for us."

Tonight's game will be the second of six in the space of three weeks for Reds and with a relatively small squad at his disposal, Mark may choose to make a couple of changes.

He added: "We're obviously limited in the changes we can make but I may freshen things up a bit. Simon Walton (concussion) is struggling after the knock he took on Saturday and we're still with out Lanre (Oyebanjo) and Gavin (Tomlin). The club are still waiting for international clearance for Belgian defender Bryan Van Den Bogaert, who joined Reds on a short-term deal last week.

"We can't make wholesale changes but whatever team we put out will be going up there to win. We're taking the competition very seriously. A Cup run would be brilliant for the club, the players and the fans, who were brilliant on Saturday up at Oxford. We will be ready and we're looking forward to the game a lot."
