Belgian defender signs short-term contract

Mark Yates has today added defender Bryan Van Den Bogaert to his squad after the defender signed a short-term contract.

Bryan played in the pre-season friendlies against Reading and Nuineaton but picked up an ankle injury in the 3-0 win over the non-league team.

But he has been back in training this week and the 23-year-old left back has earned himself a short-term deal.

Mark said: "Bryan did well in both games and showed his commitment by driving five hours just to get here to play against Reading.

"It's a position in the team we have been looking at and this is an opportunity for Bryan to impress us still further."

Bryan has played all his football in his native Belgium. After starting his career with third-tier club Cappellen in 2011 he moved to Belgium second division club FC Heist in 2013. Last season he played for Antwerp and has made a total of 80 appearances.

The club have requested international clearance and hope it can come through in time for Bryan to be in the squad to face Oxford United in the League 2 opener on Saturday.
