Qualified Football and Sports Coaches

 

Crawley Town Community Foundation is looking to recruit qualified coaches and instructors to deliver sports and football sessions in the community.

 

The Foundation is looking to recruit motivated, energetic and committed people who are passionate about community sports development.

 

SALARY: £11 p/h non driver; £12.50 p/h driver

 

HOURS: Approximately 6 hours per week to start (subject to weekly fluctuations), as well as additional coaching hours. Hours may include evening and weekend work

 

DEPARTMENT: Community Foundation

 

LINE MANAGER: Community Development Co-Ordinator/ Head of Football and Sports Development

 

EMPLOYMENT: Casual hours

 

GEOGRAPHICAL AREA: The coaching work will be based across the Crawley and Mid Sussex areas

The candidates will work within schools, on our soccer school programme, team coaching and development squad sessions. There are also opportunities to work on various projects in themes as health, education and general community development.

Experience of working on additional initiatives such as PPA, PE or in classroom sessions is an advantage.

Candidates must have access to and be able to drive a car. Candidates will be responsible for planning and leading sessions, keeping registers, ensuring welfare, and maintaining high standards whilst working for the Foundation.


Candidates need to demonstrate:

• Experience & knowledge of community sports development

• Ability to deliver fun & exciting sessions in a safe environment

• Excellent communication skills

• Enthusiasm

• Organisation

• Professionalism

• Knowledge of ABC's and fundamental movement.

The successful candidate should have:

Essential:

• Minimum Level 2 FA Football Coaching Qualification

• FA Safeguarding Certificate

• FA First Aid Certificate

• Current FA Enhanced DBS Certificate

• Experience of sports coaching within the community Desirable:

• FA Youth Modules 1 & 2

• Goalkeeper FA Level 1 Coaching Qualification

• Level 1 Coaching Award in other sports

• Coaching Disabled Footballers Award

JOB PURPOSE: To plan, coach and monitor a co-ordinated programme of high quality professional coaching as detailed within the Football League Trust Female Growth and Retention project. Focusing on school club links to support the local clubs within the area, whilst developing recreational opportunities thus helping to make a more active and successful sporting community.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and deliver high quality football coaching sessions to females aged 14+ within schools and clubs.

2. Ensure accurate attendance records are kept for each session, and are passed on to the Community Development Co-Ordinator

3. Work with FA Charter Standard clubs to create and nurture quality sustainable school club links.

4. Support the identification of talent by promoting opportunities with local FA Centres of Excellence and club/school squads.

5. Support the training and mentoring of new and existing young leaders to volunteer within club and school activities.

6. Deliver F.A. programmes in Further & Higher Education establishments in line with project development plan.

7. To have a personal commitment to keep abreast of the latest relevant training and qualifications.

8. To be an advocate for best practise in the county and to promote the messages of the Crawley Town Community Foundation and Football League Trust.

9. Undertake such other relevant duties, which, from time to time, may be required by the Foundation.

10. Carry out all duties with regard to relevant legislation, and Foundation and Football League Trusts policies and procedures


PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education, Training and Work Qualifications

Essential

Minimum of the FA Level 2 Coaching Certificate

FA Youth Module Level 1

Desirable:

FA Enhanced DBS Check

FA Emergency Aid (or Appointed Persons course)

FA Safeguarding Children Course

Equity in Your Coaching (FA or Sports Coach UK)

FA Youth Module 2


KNOWLEDGE:

Essential:

A sound understanding of sports equity issues, child protection, health & safety principles, policies and procedures.

Desirable:

An appreciation and knowledge of sports development, including club and coach development.

Knowledge of relevant national and local sports development and FA initiatives.

An appreciation of the structure of School Sport Partnerships and the FA national competition framework

Skills and Abilities

Essential:

Confidence to lead a group of young people.

Strong planning & organisational skills, including time management, prioritising workloads and decision-making.

Ability to develop & implement high quality, innovative & varied coaching sessions.

To be flexible and adapt sessions appropriately, dependant on the needs of the young people.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to motivate and to enthuse coaches, teachers, club personnel and young people.

Ability to work under pressure, use own initiative, learn quickly and the ability to adapt.

Confidence to lead a group of young people/adults

Relevant Experience

Essential:

Experience of coaching football to women and girls of a range of ages

 

Other Requirements

Essential:

Current, valid driving licence and access to a motor vehicle for work purposes.

Commitment to continuous professional development.

Must be reliable and dependable.

Ability and willingness to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends.
