Palace youngster delighted to join Reds on loan
Mark Yates has added to the squad by bringing in left-back Christian Scales on a youth loan from Premier League Crystal Palace until January 2.
The 18-year-old from Welwyn Garden City has made steady progress at Palace since he joined the club last October from Norwich City. He made 14 appearances for their under-18 team and five in the under-21s before making his first team bow last month when he played against Supersport United in the Cape Town Cup during Palace’s pre-season tour of South Africa.
Mark said: “We’re delighted to have Christian with us because he’s a player I have been tracking for some time now. He’s a young lad who has impressed in Academy and youth football for Palace and they now feel its time for him to get a taste of League football.
“He’s good on the ball but he’s first and foremost a very steady and solid defender, naturally left-footed and someone who I think will relish the step up.
He’s with us until January and he gives us another option in the squad.”
Christian has been allocated squad number 3 and is available for selection for tomorrow’s trip to Cambridge United in Sky Bet League 2.
