Mark Yates previews the Boxing Day League Two clash against Stevenage at the Checkatrade.com Stadium

Mark Yates looks ahead to our home game on Boxing Day against Stevenage

Mark on...

Barnet aftermath

We were disappointed given we got ourselves back to 2-2 and then lost 4-2 late on, it shouldn't have happened but we’ve worked on the training ground this week on certain things and we'll be trying to put it right come Saturday.
People have to take responsibility no matter what position they play in, but we've cleared the air now and it's been done in a professional manner through working on different drills and watching footage of the game. We've got a great bunch of lads, they've all been honest and looked back at the certain areas from Saturday and admitted they could have done a lot better.
We’re not hammering people by using analysis, we just look back at mistakes or look at something positive and then look to build on or improve it. We want to stop needing to have to score two or three to win a match and start managing games a bit better, which hopefully will lead to keeping clean sheets and remaining solid.

Stevenage
They are in better immediate form than us but we have to deal with that. Teddy Sheringham brought loan players in recently order to improve the side, it's gone well and they're a strong unit that can play, it's down to us to deal with these things though.
We’ve shown the players a few clips of what to expect but we're looking to concentrate on our game, whether that be defending or other areas.
It’s admirable what Teddy has done (in starting his managerial career in League 2). He was a tremendous player and he's now had an insight into how tough it is, but it's not about myself and Teddy, it’s about the teams that go out there on Saturday to put in a performance. I'll be doing my best to make sure we get a result.

Rhys Murphy goes back to Oldham
We thanked him as a group for his efforts and time here, I know he enjoyed himself. We’ve been good for him and he’s certainly been good for us.
But it's time to look ahead now, we’re going to get through the next ten days and then we'll see what happens when the transfer window opens on January 2.
I don’t want there to be much change in January but I do want to tinker around a bit. However, right now we’re concentrating on Stevenage then Wycombe on Monday and then we've got a breather before our tough game against Portsmouth on Saturday week.

Attacking options
I have no doubt that whoever slots in up front will work hard for the team. We’ve got two games in quick succession so it’s a chance for someone to show what they're about. We’ve been better at home than away and that has to continue really. Jimmy (Dack) and I will think about that and hopefully come up with a team that can get three points on Boxing Day.
