Striker says Reds are desperate to put two poor results behind them against Dagenham

Striker Matt Harrold admits Reds are chomping at the bit to return to action on Saturday when we take on Dagenham & Redbridge.

It will have been two weeks since our last game by the time we kick off against the Daggers and Matt says the squad are anxious to erase the memory of a poor performance against Carlisle in our last League Two fixture.

“We lost 3-1 and it was very disappointing. It was a lacklustre performance which is unlike us in recent weeks,” he said. "We let our standards slip.

“It has been nice to rest up a bit because from Saturday we’ll play five games in three weeks so we’re going to be busy over Christmas and New Year.

“But we’re desperate to get out there again, to put in a performance and hopefully prove that Carlisle was a one–off. I think we were pretty consistent for

several games before then – even when we lost to Northampton we had a good go in the second half and deserved a point.”

in the table but they recently won by 1-0 at AFC Wimbledon before holding second-placed Plymouth to a 1-1 draw.ndDagenham are 22

Matt added: “They have had some decent results and they’ve got a big FA Cup replay to come with a massive tie at Everton if they get through, so we know it’s going to be tough.

“We have to be at it from the start. Play with the intensity and tempo we showed when we were on a good run and start another good unbeaten run on Saturday.”
