Rotherham defender joins on loan

Crawley Town are pleased to confirm that we have today signed experienced central defender Richard Wood on a one-month emergency loan from Championship side Rotherham United.

The 29-year-old started his career at Sheffield Wednesday and played nearly 200 games for the Owls over the next eight years, the majority at Championship level.

A successful loan spell at Coventry in 2009 became a permanent arrangement in 2010 and Richard was with the Sky Blues for three seasons, making 108 appearances.

He joined Charlton in 2013 and had a season at The Valley where played 26 times for the Championship club.

Richard linked-up with former Reds’ boss Steve Evans at the New York Stadium at the start of this season and has made five appearances for the Millers, the most recent of them in last month’s 4-2 win over Bolton.

He will wear shirt no. 29 and is eligible for tomorrow’s game at Swindon Town.
