Izale: Something to build on

12 January 2015

Striker says MK Dons performance has given squad belief

Izale McLeod believes Saturday’s performance in the 2-2 draw with MK Dons has given Reds something to build on ahead of three successive away games.

Izale took his tally for the season to 11 with both goals against his former club, who equalised in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

He said: “We were all very disappointed that we couldn’t hang on at the end.

“I thought as a team we gave (stand-in goalkeeper) Matt Harrold great protection. We worked hard to stop them getting shots and crosses in.

“But against a good side we’d probably have taken a point when Brian (Jensen) had to go off. It has given us something to build on. We've got three tough away games coming up but we will go into Saturday at Rochdale with a lot of confidence."
