Reds sign Morgan

Striker joins from Woking until end of the season as Banya moves in opposite direction

Reds have this morning completed the signing striker Dean Morgan on loan from Conference side Woking until the end of the season.

As part of the agreement, Charles Banya has moved to the Kingfield club, also until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old Londoner joined Woking at the start of the season and has scored nine goals in 27 starts for the Cards.

Dean began his career at Colchester as a trainee back in 2000 and has played for 13 different clubs including Reading, Luton, Crewe, Southend United, MK Dons, Chesterfield, Oxford United and Wycombe (in action, below), where he spent the last two seasons before joining Woking in the summer. He has made more than 400 career appearances and scored 71 goals.

Manager Dean Saunders said: “I have watched Dean play many times and I still think he can perform at this level. This is probably an unexpected opportunity for him again to play in League One and I believe he will take it.

“He’s got a decent goalscoring record. He takes up good positions and has an eye for goal. He has fitted in straight away because he knows quite a few of the lads and financially it’s a good deal for us as well.”

Dean has been given squad No.10 and is available for Saturday’s trip to Fleetwood.

He said: "I dropped into non-league with Woking this season but I always had the confidence and belief that I could play at this level again and I'm delighted to be here. Hopefully I can score the goals that can help Crawley climb the table."

Meanwhile, Charles Banya has linked up with Woking for a second time having had a loan spell there last season when he was still a Fulham player.

Charles has made 12 appearances for Reds, all as a substitute, and scored his first senior goal back in September in the JPT win over Cambridge United.

Dean added: “Charlie needs to go out and get games. In Dean we have someone with a lot of experience who we can throw in straight away if necessary.”

Look out for the first interview with Dean Morgan on the official website shortly.
