Reds face Hughton's Seagulls on Wednesday

Reds take on Chris Hughton’s Brighton & Hove Albion in their next pre-season friendly on Wednesday night and manager Mark Yates is anticipating another tough test against the Championship side.

Yates saw his team beaten 3-1 by Fulham on Saturday but there were plenty of positives for the manager as his new-look squad beds down.

He said: “We’re expecting a similar sort of game but it’s one we’re all looking forward to.

“Chris did a really good job at Brighton when he went in there at the start of the year and they seem to have recruited well this summer.

“They will bring a lot of supporters no doubt which should make it a good atmosphere and I’m sure our fans are looking forward to it as it’s a local derby.

“We took a lot of positives out of Saturday’s game. Physically and fitness-wise we matched them and the boys got more game time under their belt.

“Some will get more minutes on Wednesday. Everything we do now is building towards Oxford on August 8 and preparations are going pretty well. There will be fewer trialists and we’re hoping Conor Henderson will be able to take part after he missed the Fulham game with an ankle injury.”
