Crawley Town striker wins Sky Bet League One honour
Reds’ striker Izale McLeod has been named SkyBet League One Player of the Month for February.
Izale scored four goals during the month including the club’s first ever Football League hat-trick in our 5-1 win over Barnsley.
The experienced striker now has 15 goals for the season and this award reflects the important part he is playing in making sure Reds climb the League One table.
Manager Dean Saunders said: “It’s a great confidence boost for Izale and everyone in the squad.
“I know from my own career that scoring goals is the most difficult job in the team. Izale has done great for me and John Gregory before me and my only hope now is that he continues
in the same vein of form for the rest of the season.”
A delighted Izale said: “It was a really nice surprise to be told at training about this award.
“The hat-trick against Barnsley was only the second in my career so it meant a lot, especially as it was also Crawley’s first in the League.
“The boys deserve a lot of credit for creating the chances so the award is for the whole team really.
“It’s nice to be recognised but it’s more important that we keep producing the good performances we’ve done in recent weeks and make sure we climb the table and get out of trouble.”
The SkyBet Manager of the Month for February was Preston North End’s Simon Grayson.
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
