Wood extends loan deal

23 March 2015

Defender here until the end of the season

Richard Wood will be staying with Reds until the end of the season after a new loan agreement was reached with his parent club Rotherham United.

The central defender’s initial loan expired on Saturday after he played seven games and scored twice, helping Reds to four victories.

That has now been extended until May 3, although Rotherham do have a 24-hour recall option.

Manager Dean Saunders said: “We’re delighted to have Woody with us until the end of the season. He’s made a big difference since he came here with his ability and experience.

“I would also like to thank (Rotherham manager) Steve Evans for agreeing to extending the loan period. Steve has been great in helping his old club out over this and it is much appreciated.”
