Wood: We can do better

On-loan defender looking for improvements against Leyton Orient

Defender Richard Wood insists there is still room for improvement from Reds despite back-to-back away wins.

Crawley Town have the opportunity to climb out of the Sky Bet League One relegation zone on Saturday if they can beat Leyton Orient at home and other results fall in their favour.

But Wood, who plays the last match of his loan spell from Championship club Rotherham United on Saturday, believes he and his defensive colleagues can raise their game.

He said: “It was great to score the winner at Port Vale on Tuesday and our second-half performance was very good, but it needed to be because we let in two really poor goals.

“We have to defend better, especially at set pieces. If we can get that aspect of our game right we will give ourselves an even better chance of winning games and staying up.

“The squad are confident we can get out of trouble but there is still a lot of work to do and hopefully I can play my part again on Saturday.”
