Crawley Town unveil Checkatrade as new shirt sponsors for the next three seasons

Crawley Town are delighted to announce that stadium sponsors Checkatrade will also become the club’s front of shirt main sponsor for the 2015-16 season on a three-year deal.

Chief Executive Michael Dunford said: “Checkatrade have been very supportive of the club since 2013, when they became stadium sponsors, and we are delighted that they have agreed to strengthen their ties with us by becoming our principal shirt sponsor. Their Managing Director Kevin Byrne and his guests are big supporters of the club and we’re delighted to help raise the profile of Checkatrade around the country for the next three years.”

Checkatrade Managing Director Kevin Byrne said of the deal: “It’s been our pleasure to partner with Crawley Town FC for the past two years as stadium sponsors, adding the shirt to this means our brand will now be taken to many other clubs and areas of the country. It’s a great partnership that works and we will be at the matches again next season cheering the team on.”

Checkatrade helps combat the UK's rogue trader problem by interviewing, vetting and continuously monitoring local tradespeople such as builders, plumbers and electricians as well as service providers.

The idea was born in 1998 after a tornado hit the small West Sussex town of Selsey. Traders poured in from across the country. Unfortunately, some ripped off the inhabitants of the town. Local businessman, Kevin Byrne, realised there was nowhere to check out the traders’ credentials and the company that became Checkatrade was formed.

Since then, Checkatrade has grown to employ 215 staff with a turnover in excess of £12m. It has over 17,600 genuine trade members, growing by an average of 300 new members every month. Over the past 12 months Checkatrade-certified tradesmen carried out a combined total of £2.5bn worth of work with complaints at just one in 200, compared to the national average of one in four.

Our new home and away shirts, featuring the Checkatrade logo, will be unveiled shortly and will go on sale in July.
