Interim Manager looks ahead to Sunday's big game

We caught up with Dean Saunders ahead of Sunday’s must-win game against Coventry City.

What’s the mood like in the camp?

I think it’s a combination of nerves and excitement. We all know the significance of the game and our preparation has been spot on this week. We will be ready to give our all. There are a few guys in the squad who have been through the scenario before which helps. All we can do is play the game. It’s there for us to win and make sure we are in League One next season.

What sort of game are you expecting?

Well Coventry only need a point so I guess they will try to protect what they have. They have got some good players and I’m surprised they have struggled this season, but they have a very experienced manager in Tony (Mowbray) and if he keeps them in this division next season I’m sure they will push on. They are a big, big club but we’re at home, where our form has been good, and I think we can give anyone a game here.

How have preparations gone?

Good. We discussed last Saturday’s game on Monday and put our structure in place to make sure we don’t concede goals like that again. We’ve had a good week on the training ground and we’re ready to go.

How much will it help that the ground will be sold out?

Coventry will have a lot of fans here so it’s brilliant that the people in Crawley have responded in the way they have. It will give us a big lift definitely to go out there at 12.15pm on Sunday and see the place packed to the rafters.

We’re going to need them to get behind us from minute one to minute 90. Positive support, especially when things aren’t going well which could happen, will really help us so please make it nice and loud!
