Pitch refurbishment update
Three weeks after the pitch was re-seeded at the end of the season, new grass is coming through thick and fast at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.Improvement work carried out by our pitch maintenance contractors SJK Sports started on Thursday May 7 and included rotation, sand slitting and re-seeding. Further work to improve the pitch drainage was also undertaken.
Three weeks on this is the result with the pitch due to get its first summer cut soon.
Groundsman Ben Harwood said: "The pitch was much improved last season and we received a lot of praise but our aim is to make it even better next season and to give our new manager Mark Yates and the players a surface they will enjoy playing on.
"A good covering of grass is already on the pitch, which was under germination sheets for a few days to help growth, and we're pleased with how it's looking so far."
