Russell does 80 marathons in 80 days for cancer charities
The club welcomed Russell Winfield to the Checkatrade.com Stadium on Wednesday on his latest stop during his epic effort to run 80 marathons in 80 days while visiting all 92 Premier League and Football League clubs.
Russell is doing all of this for two a charities close to his heart, MacMillan Cancer Support and Great Ormond Street, having lose a number of family members to cancer. His grandson was also diagnosed with a rare heart defect and treated at Great Ormond Street.
We showed Russell around the stadium and the club have donated a few items which will be auctioned off at the end of his venture and all proceeds will go towards the charities. After a 30 minute visit he headed off in the direction of Gillingham FC, his next port of call.
The club wishes Russell the best of luck for the rest of his journey, and we hope to see him back at the Checkatrade.com Stadium soon!
