Jimmy Dack on search for more goals

Assistant Manager Jimmy Dack has outlined the hard work on the training ground which the squad have been doing to improve their goal tally.

Jimmy and boss Mark Yates have used the two-week break since our last fixture to concentrate on forward areas, with particular work being done with Matt Harrold.

Jimmy said: "Matt has done well for us up top. He works had and has occupied opposition back fours but we'd like him to score more goals.

"We have been looking at tapes of the goals have scored in his last three or four years and I don't think the balls we have been putting into the box so far have necessary played to Matt's strengths. We have been working hard on getting the best out of his runs and movement in the box so we can get more goals out of him.

"Matt has scored goals at this level before - there's no reason why he can't do so again."

Jimmy added that it was also important that midfield players chipped in with their fair share.

He added: "Jimmy Smith, for instance, used to score eight or nine a season from midfield. We had a chat about it earlier this week and we will be looking to get Jimmy further up the pitch and generally getting our midfielders breaking into the box more.

"The great thing in all this is that the boys are working hard, challenging themselves and us all the time so we can improve together. Hopefully we can see the benefits soon, starting at Mansfield on Saturday."
