Reds rest up ahead of busy schedule

The squad got a run-out earlier this week when they played a behind closed doors friendly at Fulham’s training ground at Motspur Park.

Reds lost 2-1 with our goal coming from Simon Walton, who converted a penalty after a foul on Lee Barnard.

Manager Mark Yates said: “With the Notts County game postponed today (Saturday) we felt that two weeks without a game was too long a break and thought this was the right thing to do.

“Game time was important for a lot of the players and this was a great way to keep everyone ticking over, and it was a great workout for the lads, despite losing 2-1.

“The boys have a couple of days off now, and they’ve earned it over the 10 weeks that we’ve been back since pre-season started on July 1.

“They all come back to work on Monday, and that’s when we start to work on Mansfield away on Saturday week.”
