Knee op for Matt

12 April 2016

Striker to have surgery and will miss rest of the season

Matt Harrold’s season is over because of a knee injury.

The Reds’ striker is due to undergo a clear-out operation this week after limping out of Saturday’s game against Oxford early in the second half.

Matt said: “It’s a wear and tear injury. I’ve done a lot of jumping and twisting and turning and its taken its toll.

“I’ve been struggling with it for a while to be honest but it’s a fairly straightforward procedure.

“I’m gutted to miss the last few games of the season because we’ve got some good games coming up but by having the operation now I will be fit and ready to start pre-season training.”

Manager Mark Yates said: “Matt has done a great job for us this season, he’s been pivotal to the way we play and is a great team man. It’s not a major op but it needs to be done soon so Matt is fit and ready for next season.”

Matt has scored nine goals in 38 league and cup games this season.
