Banton: We could have won

Jason Banton believes that the Reds could have come away with more from their 1-1 draw at Doncaster Rovers in EFL 2 on Saturday.

The trip to face Darren Ferguson's promotion favourites was one which before kick off Reds may have been happy to get a point from, but in the end their battling efforts arguably deserved more.

Banton told Reds Player HD“Before the game I think we would have been happy with a point, but in the end we’re disappointed we haven’t been able to win,"

“We silenced the crowd in the first half – we had a game plan and we wanted to move the ball from side to side quickly. Our goal today showed that, it was good work all round.

“Sometimes you have to manage the game, and being away from home we did that well – some teams would have conceded and lost."

The result in in Yorkshire completes a fine week for Dermot Drummy's new-look side after an opening day win over Wycombe and a valiant effort at Wolves in the EFL Cup.

"Personally I think the new team has done well, for me it’s good to already know the manager and it’s a good style of football that he’s introduced here.

“We’re already proving people wrong – there’s a way we want to play and we can only get better."
