A look ahead to the Boxing Day action at Brisbane Road

Crawley Town travel to Leyton Orient on Boxing Day (1pm) looking to make it three League 2 wins in a row for the first time this season.

Last time out, Reds were convincing 3-1 winners at home to Newport County with goals from James Collins, Josh Yorwerth and Jimmy Smith capping a memorable afternoon.

The Opposition:

The O’s have endured a tough start to the season and have won just three of their last ten matches in all competitions.

Those three victories have come in the league against Hartlepool United, Colchester United and Accrington Stanley. They have won only two games at home in the League this season.

A goal in the second half from Jay Simpson was enough to give Andy Edwards’ side three points to keep them out of the relegation zone in their last home outing against ten-man Stanley.

Former youth coach Edwards took over after Alberto Cavasin was relieved of his duties at the end of November with his side above the drop zone only on goal difference and is confident of leading Orient up the table in the second half of the season.

The History:

The last time the two sides met was in February with the O’s running out 2-0 winners on home soil. A goal in either half from Armand Gnanduillet gave them all three points.

The meeting at the Checkatrade Stadium earlier last season had ended in a 3-2 win for the Reds with Roarie Deacon, Mitch Hancox and Simon Walton’s penalty cancelling out a Jay Simpson double.

The Reds have a good record against the East London side over the years – they have won six out of the eight matches we have played in the  League including four wins at home and two at Brisbane Road. There has never been a draw in the League between the clubs.
