Defender signs for Reds

Andre Blackman joins the club on one-year deal

The club are delighted to announce the signing of Andre Blackman on a one-year contract with a further year's option following a successful trial with the club.

The former AFC Wimbledon and Plymouth Argyle man has featured for 45 minute spells in both pre-season wins over East Grinstead Town and Three Bridges, as well as playing 65 minutes of Saturday's game against Brighton and Hove Albion, where the 24-year-old impressed Dermot Drummy.

"Andre really impressed me on his full debut, he kicked on from there and he looked very good physically", said the Head Coach.

"He can play at a higher level too, and we're really pleased with that mentality."

The former Arsenal academy player moved to Portsmouth at the age of 16.

He then began his professional career by signing for Bristol City on a two-year contract after his release by Portsmouth.

Blackman then signed for AFC Wimbledon in the Conference National in 2011, before moving to Celtic and then being sent on loan to Inverness.

After his spell in Scotland, he then joined Plymouth on a six-month contract in 2013.

Blackpool then snapped up the defender in September 2014 and he was released from the club in the summer of 2015.

Andre has been given squad number 14
