Defender is Dermot Drummy's latest summer recruit
Reds have today recruited a sixth new face for next season with the signing of left-sided player Chris Arthur.
Chris, 26, has signed a one-year contract with a year’s option after spending the last two seasons with National League Woking.
Chris initially joined the Cards on loan from AFC Wimbledon in 2014 and made the deal permanent last season. In total he made 82 appearances for Woking.
Chris started his career as a trainee at QPR and during that time spent time on loan with Kettering, Northampton and Havant & Waterlooville. He joined Wimbledon in 2013 and made 29 appearances for the Dons, scoring his only League goal to date against Scunthorpe United in August 2013.
Powerfully built, Chris is capable of playing at left-back or on the left-hand side of midfield.
Head Coach Dermot Drummy said: “Chris is a player both Matt Gray and I know well. He’s been with Woking for the last two years but he is more than capable of making the step back up to League
football, in fact he will thrive on an opportunity to establish himself again at this level.
“He’s versatile, which we like. He can play at left-back or left midfield and we’re delighted to have him with us.”
Chris said: "It feels good to be back and playing league football again, I think there are exciting times ahead for Crawley.
"It’s promising to hear that the new manager is bringing in players who will be looking to get the ball down and try to play good football.
"He has a system already in place that he wants to stick to, that’s a good start and I’m looking forward to it."
The newest Reds recruit does not believe there is much difference between the top end of the National League and League 2.
"There’s not much of a gap to be honest, the top end of League Two is very good - but the majority of the rest of the league isn’t too different.
"Most of the teams in the Conference are full-time, and their budgets are good too. Cheltenham last year had a good budget and they won the league so there’s not much in it.
"I know a few of the lads here - I know Lewis Young and Josh Payne, the latter from time at Woking and I get on really well with him.
"Now it’s all done I can focus on pre-season and the hard work for everyone including myself starts in three weeks."
