Reds sign left-back Charles on loan from Blackpool

Reds are delighted to confirm that Blackpool left-back Charles Dunne has today joined the club on a one-month loan.

The 23-year-old Londoner emerged from youth football in Kent to sign for Wycombe Wanderers in 2010, initially on a youth contract.

He became a professional two years later and went on to make his debut against Charlton in a League One game at The Valley in 2012.

Charles made a total of 49 appearances for Wycombe before joining Blackpool in August 2013 on a three-year deal. As part of the transfer he was loaned back to Wycombe for the 2013-14 campaign.

He made his Blackpool debut in a 2-0 defeat to Ipswich in the Championship in November 2014. Last season he made 23 appearances for the Tangerines and has played in seven games this term in

League One.

Manager Mark Yates said: “Left back has been a bit of a problem for us since Mitch Hancox and George Smith went back to their parent clubs so we’re delighted to get Charles in.

“He played a lot of Championship games for Blackpool last season and he’s a very solid and competitive player who we’ve been looking at for a while now.”

Providing Football League confirmation is received in time, Charles will be available for selection for tonight's game against Newport County.

He has been given squad number 31.
