Rooney leaves Reds

8 March 2016

Midfielder's contract is terminated so he can join MLS club

The club can confirm that midfielder Luke Rooney has today left the club, his contract, which ran until the end of the season, having been terminated my mutual consent.

Luke is heading to Major League Soccer to play for Arizona United, having had a successful two-week trial with the club last month.

Luke said: “I am very grateful to manager Mark Yates and the club for allowing me to take up this opportunity. And I would like to apologise to the manager and players for the mix-up in communication about me being allowed to travel and train to Arizona.

“I wish the players, manager and club all the very best in the future.

I enjoyed my time at Crawley but I'm really looking forward to this new, totally different and exciting chapter in my career with Arizona United.”

Luke played 26 games for the club, having joined at the start of the season. He played on loan for the club earlier in his career while at Swindon Town.

The club wishes Luke all the best for his future career.
