West Brom goalkeeper Jack joins on loan until end of the season

The club are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Jack Rose, who has joined us on loan until the end of the season from Premier League West Bromwich Albion.

The 21-year-old from Birmingham signed his first contract at the Hawthorns in 2013 and last season spent time on loan with Accrington Stanley, where he made eight appearances.

6ft tall Jack has been a regular for Albion’s under-21s this season and is highly regarded by his parent club, who gave him a squad no. 38 at the start of this season. He has been a regular on their bench in the Premier League as cover for Boaz Myhill, while former England keeper Ben Foster recovered from injury.

Manager Mark Yates said: “A bit like Freddie Woodman and Callum Preston, Jack is a very well thought-of young goalkeeper who is looking to get more League experience under his belt.

“I have watched him many times and he has always impressed me. We’re delighted West Brom have allowed him to come to us on loan and he has a chance to get some games under his belt between now and the end of the season.”

Jack told West Brom's website: “It’s a great chance to play in games which really mean something, to get experience, get some abuse and taste real football in front of fans who will be desperate for the result.

“I just want to play as much as I can. I didn’t dream last season I would be on the bench for 20 Premier League games and that has really whetted the appetite.

“Going to places like Old Trafford last season and tasting that atmosphere was a fantastic experience and makes you want it even more. But if you’re going to play in front of 50,000 you’ve got to be able to play in front of 5,000.”

Jack will be available from Easter Monday's game against Exeter City.
