Wales call-up for Josh

14 March 2016

Defender in under-21 squad for Euro qualifiers

Reds’ on-loan defender Josh Yorwerth has been called up by Wales under-21s.

Manager Geraint Williams' has named Josh, who is on loan with Crawley until the end of the season from Ipswich Town, in his squad for the upcoming 2017 UEFA Under-21 Championships away qualifiers away to Bulgaria (25 March) and Romania (29 March).

Wales are currently undefeated at the top of Group 5 and head into the two fixtures full of confidence having opened the campaign with a 3-1 victory over Bulgaria in Cardiff last March.

Further victories over Luxembourg and Armenia followed in 2015, and the focus for Williams' young team will now be to emulate the fortunes of the senior side and reach the finals that will be held in Poland next year.

Wales are currently one point ahead of second-place Denmark, and while the Danes have a game in hand ahead of the latest round of qualifiers.

It means Josh will be missing for Reds’ Easter fixtures against York City on Good Friday and Exeter City on Easter Monday.
