Striker urges Reds to finish on a high against Barnet

Lee Barnard says there was some encouraging signs to take from Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge.

Reds suffered their seventh successive loss in Head Coach Dermot Drummy’s first game in charge after a goalless first half.

Lee said: “The fans who went will have seen that we tried to pass and move and play with a tempo in the first half and we did that.

“We had some chances but we didn’t get that first goal and when we don’t get that we look vulnerable sometimes – it’s happened a lot this season.

“I think 3-0 was harsh because we put a lot into the game. The new manager has got us playing a different way and I think in the first half we showed we could adapt to that way.

“We’ll be back in on Tuesday and I’m sure with four days of training with him we will get a good performance for Saturday against Barnet.

“The fans were brilliant on Saturday and really stuck with us, but we’ve let them down in recent weeks and it’s important we send them home for the summer with something to be positive about.”
