Reds sign Banton

Midfielder becomes second new face of the summer

The club are delighted to announce that they have made another signing with the capture of winger Jason Banton.

The former England Under-17 winger is the second new face through the door at the Checkatrade.com Stadium following the arrival of Enzio Boldewijn last week.

The former Liverpool, Leicester City and Crystal Palace youngster has played for a number of Football League clubs. He has signed a year's contract with a further year's option.

Head Coach Dermot Drummy said that the midfielder is the type of player he’s looking to bring into the club, and someone who can buy into the philosophy he is trying to implement.

"I had Jason as an Arsenal youngster - I feel he can open up the way I want to play,” he said.

“I'm excited about where we can take the new boys including Jason. We’re delighted to have him here.”

Jason made his Football League debut on loan at Burton Albion from Leicester City in October 2011. He signed for Crystal Palace in 2012 and was sent out on loan to Plymouth Argyle soon after, before making the move permanent at the beginning of 2014.

He played 38 times for the Pilgrims before joining Wycombe Wanderers, and also spent time on loan at Hartlepool United and Notts County last season as well.
