Goalkeeper on penalty save and win
Reds stopper Mitchell Beeney paid tribute to the defence in front of him in Tuesday night’s 2-0 win at The Valley.
The Chelsea loanee also made a late penalty save from Lee Novak to keep the two goal advantage in the closing stages of the game, but he was keen to praise the whole side.
.Reds Player HD“The boys in front of me did so well tonight – the manager made changes but you need competition in the team – if we didn’t have that mentality then we wouldn’t be able to go unbeaten in the way we have recently," he told
“It’s a great win and a nice birthday present to save the penalty too!
“We did the research from the last round and I took a chance and that’s the way he went.
“You can’t single out one individual because the whole side had a great game and we made it easy for ourselves to be able to play our game.”
