A full look ahead to Saturday's final away game of the season

The Reds travel to Cambridge United on Saturday in their final away game of the 2016/17 campaign.

Last time out on the road the side fell to a 1-0 defeat to Accrington Stanley before Dermot Drummy’s men drew 3-3 with promotion chasing Carlisle United last weekend.

Saturday’s opponents still hold a chance of finishing in the play-off positions before the end of the season. With two games to go the U's sit three points off 7th following last weekend’s 2-1 away defeat to Portsmouth.

The Opposition:

The U’s struggled at the start of the campaign and had to wait until the end of September to pick up their first league victory of the season.

Inconsistency has meant that Shaun Derry’s men continue to hover around mid-table as the season reaches its end, but the unpredictable nature of the division means they still harbour realistic ambitions of finishing in the top seven.

The History:

The reverse fixture between the two sides during the current campaign ended in a 3-1 victory for Derry’s men back in November at the Checkatrade Stadium.

James Collins stylishly volleyed the hosts ahead before goals from Greg Taylor and Uche Ikpeazu meant it was the visitors who led at the break.

Luke Berry’s second half free-kick completed the scoring for the afternoon.

The Reds’ last visit to Cambridge ended in a comprehensive 3-0 victory for Mark Yates’ side. A brace from Roarie Deacon and a late third from Gwion Edwards gave the side their first win on the road of the 2015/16 campaign despite a red card for on-loan defender Liam Donnelly.
