"Pressure is off and we go there with freedom"

Dean Cox previews First Round Carabao Cup tie against Birmingham City

7 August 2017

Dean Cox insists that Tuesday's game away to Birmingham City is a chance for the side to pick up where they left off in the second half on Saturday.

The side came out much improved after the break and despite falling to a defeat the midfielder believes that they should carry on that good work into the game against the Blues.

"It's a good chance to put the first half behind us and really build on what we did after the break on Saturday," he told iFollow Crawley.

"We got the ball down and began to express ourselves, and created a lot of chances that we need to start taking, so hopefully we can continue that."

The game against the Sky Bet Championship side represents a chance to perform without the weight of expectation, according to the former Leyton Orient man.

"I think the pressure is off us a little bit," he continued.

"There'll be looking to beat us but hopefully we go there without the expectation and that then gives us a little lease of life.

"I'm just looking to be involved as much as I can, as always, and hopefully I can contirbute to a good performance and result."
