"We need to be more ruthless"

Harry Kewell reflects on 1-0 defeat to Cheltenham Town

12 August 2017

Harry Kewell wants his side to be more clincial in front of goal following Saturday's 1-0 defeat away to Cheltenham Town.

The Australian saw his side create a host of opportunities throughout against the Robins, but the visitors couldn't find an elusive equaliser.

"I thought we played really well," he told iFollow Crawley.

"We created about 13 or 14 chances and we just need to be more ruthless - and that will come.

"It's a different team now with a different set up and a different way of training so it is going to take time.

"I can see a lot of positives again this afternoon - we've switched off once and it's cost us but mistakes like thar are part of the learning process."

Matt Harrold nearly volleyed the Reds level, and Mark Connolly headed against the crossbar in a second period where Kewell's men seemed to do everything but score.

"We kept going and it's frustrating we couldn't find an equaliser," he continued.

"But we're positive and we're confident in what we're doing.

"Sometimes you need that little bit of luck - and we didn't get that today, but we'll keep going."
