Head Coach says Reds are ready for crucial time of the season

8 December 2017

Harry Kewell knows all about the demanding Christmas and New Year schedule from his days in the Premier League with Liverpool and Leeds United.

And he says he is looking forward to experiencing it for the first time as a coach, starting with tomorrow’s home Sky Bet League 2 game against Mansfield.

With next Tuesday’s Sussex Senior Cup tie at Hastings United included, Reds will play seven games between Saturday and the trip to Yeovil on January 1.

At today’s pre-match media briefing, Harry said: “I know how demanding the period coming up will be, physically and mentally, for the players.

“I had it myself as a player but it’s my first experience as a coach and hopefully from what I learned I can pass on some things to the boys so we are ready and at our best for each of the games coming up.

“But we’re in good shape going into tomorrow. We’ve had a break since the last League game two weeks ago and we’ve been really sharp in training this week.

“For any club at whatever level this time of the season is absolutely crucial. We’re in good form at the moment and the squad is happy. I really think we can kick on and set ourselves up for a good second half of the season.”
