Good run out for Reds and progress in Senior Cup

19 December 2017

Assistant Head Coach Warren Feeney was pleased that Reds overcame tricky opposition to make progress in the Parafix Sussex Senior Cup.

First-half goals from Josh Lelan and Ibrahim Meite sealed a 2-0 win over Isthmian League Hastings United on a cold night at the Pilot Field.

The starting XI contained none of Saturday’s starters at Crewe in League 2 but those involved got valuable minutes under their belt ahead of a busy Christmas programme.

Warren said: “They made it hard for us, as I thought they would, but we got the result and at times I thought we played some decent stuff.

“The boys up front looked lively and we scored two good goals. This competition is important to us now as it gives us extra games. We’ve got Eastbourne Borough now which is a step up and it’s on a 3G pitch which is a challenge as it’s a surface we are not used to but we will deal with it.”
