Head Coach looking for positive response at Bloomfield Road

Dermot Drummy is confident of a good response from his side as they prepare for the first of three away games in a week against Blackpool tonight (7.45pm).

Our first trip to Bloomfield Road comes after two successive 2-1 defeats to Notts County and, on Saturday, at home against Stevenage when the Head Coach admits Reds were well below their best.

“We’ve done a fair bit of thinking since Saturday because that performance wasn’t like us at home, where we’ve been pretty consistent throughout the season,” said Dermot.

“We’ve gone through the DVD with the players and (assistant Head Coach) Matt Gray and I have spoken at length about the performance. We just weren’t brave enough to play the way we want to play, to pass the ball. When we do that we are a good side and we need to find that mentality again quickly.”

Reds beat Blackpool 1-0 in October and Dermot expects another tight encounter by the seaside this evening.

“I know (Blackpool manager) Gary Bowyer well and I think he’s done a good job there. They won at Barnsley in the FA Cup last month which was a fantastic result for them and, like us, they have added to their options during January,” he added.

“So it’s going to be tough, just as Luton on Saturday and Colchester next Tuesday will be. But we are capable of getting results at each of these places without a doubt.

“We have got good options in the squad now in terms of selection which gives me the opportunity to freshen things up if I want to.

"But whoever goes out there tonight knows that we have to raise the levels all round and then do it on a consistent basis between now and the end of the season. I have every confidence that they will do that."
