Reds defender praises Reds backline after clean sheet in Yeovil win

Lewis Young pointed to a solid defensive performance being key in Monday afternoon's 2-0 victory over Yeovil Town.

The defender operated as a wing-back and was awarded with the 'Man of the Match' award in the win over Darren Way's men - but he insisted that any one of his fellow defenders could have scooped the accolade on a pleasing afternoon for the side.

"The clean sheet is really pleasing, I thought the back three and the goalkeeper were all fantastic and any one of them could've got the award I got today," he told Reds Player HD.

"We know that if we can do our job and be solid defensively then our attackers will take the chances that come their way."

The side were out to make amends for a heavy 5-0 defeated they suffered at the start of last month in Somerset, and the defender believed that the performance in the opening period set the tone for the rest of the game.

"We had to go out in the first half and show a reaction to the reverse fixture in December after the loss, and then in the second half we were very professional in the way we saw the game out.

"We've got a while off now to rest and then we can look forward to another massive home game against Hartlepool United on the 14th."
