Christian Burgess
The towering defender was signed in 2015 as part of the club’s overhaul, and has made 88 appearances since. Burgess earned a trial for Middlesbrough in 2012 and consequently a two-year contract whilst studying history at the University of Birmingham. He was named in the League Two Team of the Year last season.

Kal Naismith
The Scotsman began his career with Rangers in 2011 after graduating from their academy. Two years later he made his entrance to English football signing for Accrington Stanley, where he would stay for two seasons before signing for Pompey in 2015. Netted 15 times last term as his side clinched promotion to League One.
Brett Pitman
Pittman is a new face at Fratton Park, signing from Championship side Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee. Despite his recent arrival, the 29-year old has been handed the captain’s armband. The striker also spent five years at Bournemouth before leaving in 2010, scoring 62 goals.
