"It's a great chance to express ourselves"

Assistant Coach on Carabao Cup draw

20 June 2017

Warren Feeney insists that the Reds’ Carabao Cup draw away to Birmingham City is a fantastic opportunity for the players and the club.

The draw was made on Friday lunchtime as Harry Kewell’s men were pitted against the Blues, and the Assistant Coach was full of enthusiasm for the First Round draw.

“It’s a good draw for us, they’ve got Harry Redknapp there now and it will be a chance for him to lay down an early marker,” he said.

“From our point of view it’s a great chance to express ourselves against a team in a higher league.”

“It’s a great ground too, probably one of the luxury ones in the division with a lot of history.”

“I played there for Luton Town and scored when we drew 2—2, they were a Premier League club not long ago  – Harry’s experienced and fantastic guy so it will be great to see him.”

Tomorrow morning the Reds will discover their 2017-18 schedule and Feeney emphasised that once that list is in place things will quickly gather pace ahead of the new season.

“It’s a big milestone because once the fixtures come out everyone starts to get excited,” he continued.

“You can look ahead then to the fitness and training programme and things like that.

“It’s come round quick – the boss has his plans on what he wants to do and we can’t wait to get started.”

You can find out the side’s 2017-18 fixture list right here at 9am tomorrow on www.crawleytownfc.com and across all of our social channels.
