Young American Josh Payne gets sent signed memorabilia by namesake midfielder

6 June 2017

The club recently received contact from Kevin Payne in Ohio letting us know his son also went by the same name as our central midfielder Josh Payne!

He wrote us the following letter:

“Hi, my name is Kevin Payne. My family and I live in Cleveland, Ohio. My oldest son is named Josh. Joshua (James) Payne to be exact,” said Kevin.

“Just found out there is a player on your team by the same exact name. My son, age 12, is a really good club level soccer player (defender) and is obsessed with everything related to England thanks to English soccer clubs and Harry Potter.

“He's going to freak out when he finds out about your Josh Payne! He will immediately become my son's favorite player.”

We then sent Josh signed match worn boots, a signed player card as well as some CTFC merchandise.

His Dad, Kevin, got back in contact with us this week.

“I wanted to take a second and thank you for sending my son some Josh Payne and Crawley Town swag. He loved it.

“Attached is a photo of my son in his soccer uniform with the stuff you sent. We even figured out that Crawley Town is on his FIFA video game so he's been using them as his team because his name shows up on the screen. Thanks again!”

We’re interested to know of any other namesake fans around the world – get in touch and let us know!
