Reds defender celebrates new deal with clean sheet
Joe McNerney admitted it was a perfect 48 hours all round after he signed a new contract with the club on Friday and kept a clean sheet against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.
The centre half celebrated his new deal with a resilient defensive display against the league leaders and played a pivotal role in helping the side to a clean sheet.
"It was good to get the contract sorted and then a clean sheet against the league leaders was great too - because it was hard fought," he told Reds Player HD.
"We looked a threat in the second half too - to be fair Glenn's made some great saves throughout too so we have to thank him for that."
The next test for the side is the visit of fellow promotion chasers Portsmouth at the Checkatrade Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The defender was adamant that another strong performance like Saturday's would stand the side in good stead.
"Portsmouth will be a great game and a great atmosphere - it's always noisy and the fact it's a night time game as well.
"But if we play like we did in the second half and get on the front foot we can more than get a result."
