Head Coach looking for response to Tuesday evening at Blundell Park on Saturday
Dermot Drummy is looking for a reaction to Tuesday evening's defeat when we travel to Grimsby Town on Saturday (3pm).
The Reds fell to a 3-0 home defeat to Crewe Alexandra in midweek and the Head Coach insists his players need to show a response to the poor performance against David Artell's men when they travel to the north-east on Saturday afternoon.
"It was disappointing to lose in the manner in which we did because we're much better than that," he said.
"We'll be looking back through the goals and the shape of the team because I felt we were far too open at times, so we move on.
"When we play away from home we build ourselves into matches and on the ball we were too open on Tuesday evening when we gave it away, which happened too often.
"It's now about showing the players what went wrong and my job is to make sure it doesn't happen again."
The trip to Blundell Park is one which will see striker Matt Harrold make a return to the squad after recovering from injury - and the Head Coach revealed the forward gives the side an alternative option when available for selection.
"Matt's definitely in contention," he said.
"Mark (Connolly) has picked up a niggle and we won't know about him until on the day.
"Matt is a very experienced and committed player and he brings a real aerial threat at both ends of the pitch, he's someone who's had a tough season too and it's good to have him back."
Lastly, he also reserved praise for the fans travelling at the weekend to support the team - emphasising it makes a real difference to the side.
"It's brilliant when I see the fans who travel to the matches - especially the longer trips where they pay their money and give up a lot of their time.
"Myself and all the boys really appreciate it and hopefully at the weekend we can send them home happy."
