August Review

12 May 2017

Watch back all the goals the side scored during the month of August

The Reds scored seven goals in August during the 2016/17 campaign and fans can remind themselves of the strikes below.

Jimmy Smith's opening day goal against Wycombe Wanderers gave the Reds a 1-0 win, before Enzio Boldewijn's stylish header wasn't enough to earn the Reds a Capital One Cup victory the following Tuesday against Wolves at Molineux.

The first away game of the season saw James Collins open his account for the season away at Doncaster Rovers in a 1-1 draw - the forward would go on to score 22 goals in all competitions for the campaign.

Josh Yorwerth's memorable late strike gave Dermot Drummy's side a 1-0 win away to Exeter City at St James' Park three days later, before Joe McNerney's second half header meant the spoils were shared with Barnet on the 20th August.

There was a first league goal in English football for Enzio Boldewijn seven days later when the Dutch winger opened his account against Notts County, but the Magpies ran out eventual 3-1 winners with three second half strikes.

The Checkatrade Trophy campaign kicked off the following midweek to conclude the month - and James Collins' first half header sealed a 1-0 win over Colchester United.
