Head Coach Harry Kewell has confirmed that skipper Jimmy Smith will miss Saturday’s game against Wycombe at Adams Park.
Jimmy came off after an hour of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Forest Green Rovers because of a hamstring injury.
HK said: “Unfortunately Jimmy won’t make Saturday. We’re hoping he will be back in contention next week.
“It’s a shame for him and us but that’s why you have a squad. Someone else will get an opportunity now and the chance to impress.
“It’s a squad game. I thought the three subs last Saturday made an impact and gave me plenty to think about ahead of Wycombe.”
Reds will also have to name a new captain with Smith out.
“I’ll give that decision plenty of thought,” added HK. “There are some really strong candidates in the group.”
